Location: Landover, Maryland Offensive Ranking:
Run: 12th (116.9)
Pass: 14th (216.4)
Overall: 15th (333.4)
Points Per Game: 18th (20.9)
Key Player: Todd Collins
Obviously Collins isn't the Redskins' quarterback of the future, but the team may be better off with in the playoffs with the veteran behind center. The passing game has opened up under his direction, and he hasn't made a lot of mistakes. If he can continue to play mistake-free ball, the Redskins will be a tough draw in the post-season despite their modest record. Defensive Ranking:
Run: 4th (91.3)
Pass: 16th (214.0)
Overall: 8th (305.3)
Points Per Game: 11th (19.4)
Key Player: Andre Carter
The Redskins have been getting a better push defensively in the pass-rush department, but the one guy who has been truly consistent at putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks is Carter. Turnovers:
Give Aways: 29
Take Aways: 24 Outlook:
The Redskins are on a roll heading into the playoffs, having won their last four games, so momentum is on their side. Not surprisingly, that winning streak coincides with the loss of starting QB Jason Campbell to injury and the entrance of Collins as his replacement.
If Washington continues to get efficient performances from Collins and strong play from their defensive unit, they could be a factor in the NFC playoffs.
